We have a chance to make a big impact on PFAS use in New York this year, and you can make a difference.
This spring, the Senate and Assembly passed a ban on PFAS in clothing (apparel). Now it’s time for Governor Hochul to sign it into law.
PFAS (per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances), AKA “forever chemicals” are added to almost any product category you can think of and they hurt our health and the environment. PFAS can limit immune responses, contribute to diabetes and cancer, and more. Many communities across New York are already suffering, and we need to turn off the tap on this whole class of toxic chemicals.
Banning PFAS in Apparel will protect all of us. These chemicals in clothes touch our skin, and in the laundry, they wash out into water. Once in our waterways, these chemicals are very hard to remove and continue to expose us through our drinking water.
We need Governor Hochul to ensure New York continues to be a national leader in eliminating PFAS from our lives.
Make a difference in a minute: send your message to Governor Hochul now. The email is already drafted for you, so just add a sentence or two about why this issue is important to you and make your voice heard.
